Description
The assignment for final and executive design, including health and safety coordination during the design phase, concerned the completion and structural consolidation works of the ITIS ‘Guido Dorso‘ school building, located in the Municipality of Avellino.
The school building, dating back to the 1960s, required structural interventions aimed at seismic upgrading. Specifically, the interventions included the following:
– Encasement of reinforced concrete columns;;
– Construction of new columns;
– Construction of connecting beams and a foundation slab, both at foundation level
– Carbon fiber plating of structural elements to be shear-strengthened;
– Negative moment reinforcement of beams using carbon fiber;
Demolition of the existing dog-leg staircase and construction of a new steel staircase.
The work was carried out as part of a design consortium (RTP) with Cavallaro & Mortoro S.r.l. and Architect Corrado Donniacuo.
